Come on people only 11 shots to be fired. (I will take one shot, two already fired). The next person who will pull the trigger is probably a jovial person. He/she has contributed before or will contribute for the first time. He/she thinks we are a bunch of serious people, who will get the job done, but too serious for his/her company.
That is not the case at all. To prove it, here is a joke for you, to make you pull the trigger, amused and probably laughing.
Note: It is impossible to crack a joke and make everyone laughs. Invariably it is offensive to someone. I hope it is not the case here. Also, not everyone likes a particular joke; well the objective here is to make only one person laugh (enough to go to google and pull the trigger). An old lady takes the limp body of her rabbit to the vet. She pleads to the Dr �Please please take a look at my dear Pilu. He is not responding at all�. The Dr goes and checks the poor rabbit. �Sorry! But your Pilu is dead�. �No it can�t be the case, help me, help me, please do something�. The Dr says OK and blows a whistle. A cat come and gets on top of the table where Pilu�s body is lying�. She sniffs the body from top to bottom and shakes her head and leaves the room. The dr looks at the old lady and shakes his head too. Old lady protests and says the dr is not doing a good enough job. The Dr again whistles and in comes a Labrador Retriever. The dog also check Pilu and declares that the rabbit is dead. �How much� the lady asks the dr holding Pilu very close to her chest. �$250� the Dr replies.�WHAT $250 TO TELL ME THAT MY DEAR PILU IS NO MORE�. The dr replies back in a very calm tone �it would have cost you 50 when I told you, but you were not convinced and I had to run a lab report and do a cat scam. $100 each�

I share your pain buddy.I also miss the July 2007 fiasco by 1 month due to my &^@#$% lawyer who took 1 year to apply for labor and kept me in dark .The most painful thing is to see my wife's frustration who inspite of job offers can't join becoz company does not want to sponsor.Just being optimistic is the only hope.
Does anybody have any updates on the I485 Pre--Filing new procedure, that last I read was that this has got postponed to June (USCIS half yearly agenda). This is the only raft and lifeboat for us in the deep sea!

Simply send the check of $5 to Immigration Voice at the address listed in the first post as if you were paying a utility bill. That way your bank will send IV a check of $5.00 (or whatever amount you want it to) and IV gets the WHOLE $5 and no fees are deducted.

I consider FOIA is a multifold success. Not only we achieved milestone 1 of $5K, we were successful enough to wake up members to do something after long time. Why do you think the very same members were sleeping? I don't believe IV Core was not doing anything in last few months but members always felt that there is no plan of action from IV. There is nothing worst could happen to us just by disclosing our plan of actions in controlled way like:
1. <<ABC>> is preparing document for final data information.
2. <<XYZ>> is evaluating other options how we could retrieve this information.
3. <<DEF>> is understanding how FOIA works and how long it will take us to get data and what will be the best option to get it earlier.
4. <<MMM>> is working on funding drive for this.
There is no reason to hide even this kind of information. But if we do this, members understand what we are doing at high level.

These companies will pay the extra fees, but will change their onshore/offshore model. Will use less H1/L1 visas , but will increase the headcount of offshore operations.
So the smart senator will force more jobs to be outsourced. These jobs will never comeback once gone. If we look back at the 2000 recession, it caused a major shift in the way US companies looked at outsourcing. Pre-2000 many companies didn't believe that all jobs could be outsourced. 2000 recession forced them to think otherwise.
These kind of bills will cause a re-thinking in corporate america's thought process. They will think of creative ways to outsource. Against this senator's hopes, it will reduce jobs here.

I am not supporting this bill in anyway, I hate infy as much as I hate this bill. Remember these companies did not leave any stone unturned, milked the client every possible way and expoilted the employees to the maximum extent. In one another post - VLDRao was saying these companies does the tax filing on behalf the emoloyee, get the refund and again claim that tax in india using double taxation aoivdance treaty.

It is time now to do a massive mother of all media campaigns and inform every reporter, TV station, Radio station, Magazine and newspaper in this country about the rally.
We start this campaign now and we will continue it until Monday. Media publicity is very important for the success of the rally. IV is already doing an email campaign to hundreds of immigration reporters today. (Ps.This list was compiled by few IV volunteers from various forums and threads. It will not be made public. So if you have any such list do not post on IV.)
Here is what we want everyone to do:

I had been going though the same phase. More from the last 6 months, from when my dates are current and nothing is happening. Its been a long wait, more than 7 years and counting.
Only time I feel less pain is when I compare the pain, to a person or post from my land who are waiting from 2001 and still having hope. When I go to India and see some of my friends who are now project managers, I get to think whether it was worth the waiting or am I living in a black hole.
From last 4 - 5 years, even the salaries are at par. I could have enjoyed life more than here and be with my parents and friends. But, I don't have to blame anyone as it is me who choose to live in pain and now when I am used to it and had fear of loosing it.
But, then I still believe in GOD and know that he would make me sail through it one day.
No pun here but Cheers. Have faith in almighty and one day you will get answers to all your questions.

FL stopped issuing DLs if you are on AOS (ie 485 pending) only with no backup H1/H4.

Yes story is thesame. The US is unfair to high skilled immigrants. I lived in the US for 8 years. School, worked, volunteered, purchased a home, etc. When the down turn came, I was left high and dry. No unemployment benefits with all the taxes and social security that I have paid. To make matters worse, I was required to depart the same day. I had properties... been living here for 8 years!!
Even though I made this choice, it does not make it humane to have such a system. You ask, what does the US really gain by making people go through the stress, anxiety, sleepless nights? Nothing.

The discrepancy is due to the fact that you are looking at visa bulletin from 2 different month. The bulletin on State department's website is for September and the one on Mumbai consulate's website is supposed to be for October.

I think the advantage of LLC against Sole Prop is about liability.
If some one sues your business, LLC offers you protection, but Sole prop. may not.
If you are on EAD, you can start the business in your wife's name. Now the risk is that she will run away and take the business with her; can't say that would really be a bad thing.
S-corp is much more complex compared to LLC.

What is America losing because of our prolonged wait for Green Cards?
Money in the form of Taxes and more and more skilled labor :
People in India now don't want to come on H1B's because they don't see any future in US anymore. They think instead of returning back after an unsuccesful dream of living in US they cud gather what they have currently and stay in India -- where they wud eventually have to settle later.
Money in the form of Mortagages Property Investments -
Indians mostly prefer to invest in good real estate properties atleast better than the other two dominant categories in US [ Hispanic and African - American ]. There will be a surge of better mortgage payers if the Indian population see a long term stay in US.
Skilled Labor because most companies dont hire H1bs for additional cost factor to be given to USCIS . And even if some companies want to hire H1B people for cheap labor, these skilled labor are inclined to get greencards. Most companies dont do that or may be start the whole process too late because of the long queue and they think instead putting so much efforts to make this H1B guy permananent [ hassle free] they settle for lesser skilled labor with more salary who has a permanent residence/ citizenship because they are hassle free.
Have to return back to work but ..will write more later.

Instead of ruining our life running after GC, here are few options
1) if you really want to live in a developed country, move to Canada or Australia. their process is much simpler and faster
2) cash out your investments and move to India. you might end up back in US on L1 :)
3) since some of us have had babies here, wait till they can sponsor you.
i have personally done 2 of the above. I have a Canadian PR and i have established contacts in India in case i need a job there. What am i doing here? saving as much money as i can, and waiting for the right opportunity in Canada or India. GC can kiss my ......., i got better things to do in life.
Let's stop wasting our time and pages on ALTERNATIVES (Canada, Australia, India, or timbaktu). Those who are serious about the alternatives just opt for those. We are here to fight our case for increased visa numbers and lets do that.
